The privacy affairs website reports that the personal information of more than 1.5 billion Facebook accounts has been traded and offered for sale on a popular hacking forum.
The site added that this incident "constitutes the largest and most important dump of Facebook data to date."
According to forum information, the data circulated contains personal names, email addresses, phone numbers and user IDs.
The website explained that by identifying the users' phone numbers, cybercriminals can send fake SMS messages to the affected users, which would facilitate fraud and criminality for them.
