Warns of the return of a "more fierce" Corona pandemic, similar to the Spanish flu

The Assistant Secretary-General of the World Health Organization, Ranieri Guerra, warned of a second wave "more fierce" for the emerging Corona virus after the end of the summer, similar to the Spanish flu.

"The new Corona virus is evolving in the same way we expected and it is similar to the Spanish flu," Guerra, an Italian doctor, said in a televised statement on Friday.

He added: "The Spanish flu disappeared in the summer, then it returned more fierce in the months of September and October, and about 50 million people died during the second wave."

Guerra indicated that the decline in the pandemic during the summer period and the decrease in the number of patients in intensive care rooms are already expected, stressing that the Italian health authorities are taking measures aimed at ensuring the reduction of the spread of the virus in the autumn.

The health official also commented on two new outbreaks, which were monitored in the cities of Bologna and Mondragón, indicating that they were discovered and cordoned off quickly, and "the system is a factor", but pointed out that the emergence of new outbreaks in Italy, but Europe in general, is inevitable.
