The two billionaires, competing in the world of social networks Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, exchanged virtual blows again yesterday, Sunday, as the (first) founder of the “Meta” network considered that his rival, the owner of “X” (formerly Twitter), does not take the proposed duel between them in mixed martial arts on seriously.

Zuckerberg wrote on his social platform, Threads, which he launched last month to directly compete with Twitter, “I think we all agree that Elon is not serious, and it is time to move on. I offered a real date (for the fight) … but Elon did not confirm a date , Then he said he needed an operation, and now he's asking for a practice run in my garden instead."

Elon Musk was quick to respond via "X", the platform he bought last year when it was called "Twitter", describing Zuckerberg as a "coward".

Musk, who also owns Tesla, announced that he will head to Silicon Valley on Monday. "I can't wait to knock on his door tomorrow," he wrote on Sunday.

At the end of June, the heads of the rival giants "X" and "Meta" discussed the possibility of facing them in a videotaped fight in mixed martial arts "MMA". (MMA), while there was talk a few days ago of August 26 as a possible date for this confrontation.

And Musk announced on his “X” platform on Friday that the potential match might take place in Italy, while the Italian government confirmed that there were talks about a “major charity event.”

Musk added, "I spoke to the Italian Prime Minister (Georgia Meloni) and the Minister of Culture (Gennaro Sangioliano). And they gave their consent to (hold the event in) an exceptional place."

In response, Zuckerberg posted a picture of himself topless pinning another man during a martial arts practice.

"I love this sport and I have been ready to fight since Elon challenged me," said Zuckerberg, who is known for his passion for martial arts and has competed in jiu-jitsu.

But he added, "If an actual date ever gets agreed, you'll find out from me. Until then, please assume that anything (Musk) says hasn't been agreed."

The Italian Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangioliano, said that he is discussing with Elon Musk the organization of a "major charitable event that recalls history," according to a statement issued Friday.

He pointed out that the potential event "will not be organized in Rome," thus ruling out the possibility of a duel in the Colosseum, as Elon Musk mentioned at the end of June.

Italian Culture Minister Gennaro Sanguliano confirmed he had spoken to Musk about "how to organize a great charity event that evokes history" but said that no match "will take place in Rome".

The two tech giants have clashed for years in their opposing views of the world, from politics to artificial intelligence. But the confrontation between them escalated with the launch of Mark Zuckerberg and his "Meta" group, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, early last month, the "Threads" application.

Musk indicated on Friday that he might need to undergo "minor surgery" to solve the problem of "rubbing my right shoulder bone against my ribs."
But he noted that "the recovery will only take a few months."
